Himalayan Rains & Kolkata Floods: Climate Change in Action
This monsoon has been brutal. States like Himachal, Uttarakhand, and J&K have seen more than 750 heavy rainfall events, the highest in the last five years. Meanwhile, Kolkata was hit by an intense cloudburst that flooded the city, threw flights and trains off schedule, and sadly, cost several lives.
And it’s not over yet — meteorologists are already tracking two new low-pressure systems forming in the Bay of Bengal, just before Durga Puja.
👉 The takeaway: Nature is sending us a loud warning. Urban flooding, landslides, and infrastructure collapses are not just “acts of God.” They’re signs of unplanned cities, weak drainage systems, and ignored climate risks. Unless we build smarter and greener, these disasters will keep repeating.
